One of the few Master Chefs certified by examination working outside London, Gareth Johns' physique can leave you in no doubt about the seriousness with which he conducts his research!
Seriously, Gareth's food philosophy is truly simple:- "Find the best produce you can, do as little to it as neccessary, and sell it for the best value you can possibly give." Inspiration comes from the fantastic natural larder that surrounds him, the finest beef, lamb, pork and game, fresh fish and shellfish and magnificent cheeses and dairy produce. Gareth is heavily involved in the Slow Food movement, working to feed the world (or at the very least his corner of it) with food that is 'Good, Clean and Fair'. He applies similar efforts to his food and wine matching, which he regards as a natural extension of cooking (hic!) and has won national and international recognition for his work in this field. Gareth is also a passionate and active educator, he believes firmly that knowledge not shared is wasted!
